general tips
lighting
Lighting is so important! For outdoor ceremonies, be mindful of where the sun will be during the time of your ceremony. Plan for it to suit your preferences!
e.g. Would you rather have the bride's face be backlit by the sun or have direct sunlight on her?
unplugged
We highly recommend considering an unplugged ceremony. Not many couples want photos with iPhones and iPads pointed at you while walking down the aisle.
family portraits
Prepare a list in advance of who you'd like to be photographed. Have an MC who knows majority of the people on the list read the order out loud.
Personalize your day
Ask yourselves, "what is most important to us, and how can we incorporate our passions into our day?" Ideas may include:
- music performances
- unity symbols/acts
e.g. sand pouring, unity candle lighting, tree planting, unity canvas painting, passing on the rings
- cultural & religious traditions
- write your vows on nicer paper (avoid colourful duo-tangs... yes they still exist!)
- incorporate your priorities throughout the day
